General policies

We do not sell or share your email (or your contact information). We do not have access to your credit card information.

Monthly Subscription

Pay monthly for all classes within one month from date of payment. You may pause any time, offering the most flexibility. (If you signed up for a legacy subscription, we honor the terms we agreed to when you signed up.)

Annual Subscription

Pay annually for all classes within one year from date of payment. There are 48–50 classes on average in a 12-months period. However, you may choose to pause twice, each time for a month. Therefore, each annual subscription is valid for a maximum of 14 months. Please email info@icanmandarin.com before you want to pause. (If you signed up for a legacy subscription, we honor the terms we agreed to when you signed up.)

Minimum Enrollment

Classes run contingent on meeting minimum enrollment. If the enrollment falls below our minimum we reserve the right to reschedule the class for a different time, change the class to a private tutoring session, or to refund the unused classes.

Absence

There isn’t a need for make up classes when one or two classes are missed. Your child’s cohort moves at their own pace, likely different than other cohorts. Joining another class to “make up” for a missing class often isn’t effective—plus schedules often don’t work out. Our curriculum is designed to progress in a modular and spiral approach, so in case of missing one or two lessons, they can catch up easily. Our monthly plan is extremely flexibly already, and the annual plan allows pausing for a month at a time when they aren’t able to attend classes.

Calendar

Unless otherwise arranged, classes are held weekly. We observe a small number of holidays most widely practiced by our global student body. Please refer to our calendars below.

Cancellation

It is very rare that iCanMandarin cancels a class. We make every effort to find substitute teachers. If we must cancel a class, you will be notified at the earliest possible opportunity, and we will extend your subscription validity by a week. As a rule of thumb we need to maintain a minimum enrollment of 4 for each cohort. If the cohort is smaller than 4, we will first work with you to join a different cohort, but we reserve the right to cancel the cohort and credit you pro rata.

Punctuality

Students must show up on time when class starts, and when operating onsite picked up on time when class ends. We thank you for your cooperation.

Take Home Practice and Portfolio

Your class may have take home practice that includes flashcards, reading materials, character practice sheets and free writing practice. You will be given a link to download and a link to upload.

Classroom Visits

Our classes, both online and in-person, follow “drop off and pick up” principal. In order to maintain a productive learning environment, we ask parents and caretakers to leave the classroom onsite or online once they’ve helped the student settle in, and when class has started. Prolonged stay in the classroom of parents cause disruption to classroom activities and distract the child and other children's attention from the intended instruction.

Photo/image

By attending iCanMandarin, permission is given, unless notified otherwise, to be photographed, videotaped, or otherwise recorded during classes and for any such photographs and media to be used by iCanMandarin for the purposes of professional development or in any newsletters, websites or other promotional materials whether now or hereafter developed.

Nut-free Program (for onsite)

When operating onsite, iCanMandarin is a nut-free program, and our class is held in the nut-free classrooms. Please be sure that any snacks your child brings to class are nut-free and are not processed in a facility that also processes tree nuts.

By enrollment or attending classes at iCanMandarin, you agree to the above.
